Shillington: 25 Years
-
Shillington's brief to celebrate their 25-year milestone by recreating 1997 (their founding year) presented a conceptual contradiction - celebrating forward progress by going backward in time. The challenge was creating an event identity that honored this paradox while capturing the late 90s rave aesthetic, all while making the celebration feel meaningful rather than merely nostalgic or gimmicky.

I developed a visual concept that embraced the forward/backward contradiction as the core design strategy. Drawing from late 90s rave culture, I created an intentionally complex composition featuring endless loops of shapes, letterforms, and negative space that functioned as a visual puzzle. The design played with viewers' perception - appearing chaotic at first glance but revealing purposeful structure upon closer inspection, mirroring the paradox of celebrating progress through regression.
